Mindy Morgan Bipolar Mentor & Mental Health Blogger
Meet Mindy Morgan
Mindy Morgan is a social worker who received her Masters Degree from the University of Maryland. She is currently director of a mental health center in Maryland. She has worked as a social worker for a variety of populations since 2000 and has recently taken a more active role as a community advocate. In her current role she fosters cooperative relationships between the police, courts, and mental health system and provides training to law enforcement on mental health. She has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since the age of 21, but only began recovery efforts with the help of a psychiatrist and therapist at the age of 34. She believes in the power of recovery and the importance of supportive relationships to help in the recovery process.
Mindy volunteers because...
I volunteer because I felt so alone when I was first diagnosed and for many years after. People should have supportive, caring individuals surrounding them in order to improve the recovery process. I have those people in my life and now I want to be one of those people for others.
